THE GREAT SEAL OF THE JATIBONICU TAINO TRIBAL NATION OF BORIKÉN

Our tribal seal presents 2 branches with the 24 leaves of peace of the sacred Cojobana tree on each branch with the date of the first Spanish european encounter in the year of our lord 1492 and the 1970 official reaffirmation date of the tribal council government of the Jatibonicu Taino tribe in Boriken (Puerto Rico) and its tribal band in the United States. The seal's 3 main colors represents the original Pre-Columbian territory divided by the spanish colonial government into the towns of Aibonito, Barranquitas and Orocovis that are also found within our tribal flag and with the name written in black showing the name of the Jatibonicu Taino Tribe of Boriken. In the center is the Guanin of Orocobix the authority granted to the head of the grand council.

This is the Great Seal of the Jatibonicu Taino Tribal Nation of Borikén. The great sacred seal was etched into rock around 900 BC. We the Jatibonicu people and its tribal chiefs and elders historically have recognized this great Seal as the official Guanin (Sacred Badge of Authority of the Chieftains of the tribal blood lineage of Cacique Orocobix. Chief Orocobix was the last hereditary full blood Paramount Chief of the island kingdom of Jatibonicu. Presently the Guanin of the great seal is carried by our Cacique, Chief Pedro Guanikeyu Torres. The sacred Guanin of the great seal of the Caney (Longhouse) of the Jatibonicu Taino Tribal Nation, has been in the possession of the Cacique our tribal Chief for the past thirty-six years of his life.

It should be noted that the Cacique's Guanin of The House of Orocobix, does not represent the image of the Sun. The etched symbols represent the twenty-four (24) Cohoba leaves encircling, one (1) outer Sun circle, one (1) inner Moon circle, the three (3) stem points of the Cohoba Snuff Pipe and the three (3) spiritual central cardinal points of the great Cemi, the totem of the sacred mountain of Cauta. Cauta according to our tribal lore, is known as the great sacred Mountain of the two caves of Cacibajagua where Tainos are from and Amayauona from which is said that humankind had come from in the dawn of time.

The etched petroglyph or sacred rock writing of the Jatibonicu Taino Great Seal, seen below, is located on the side of a mountain deep in a sacred ceremonial cave within our Taino tribal homeland. Our Taino tribal homeland is located in the central mountain region of the island of Borikén (Great Land of the Valiente And Noble lord) today Puerto Rico. It is to be noted their are etched sacred rock writings found on a large river rock that is shaped as a birds head, known today as "La Piedra Escrita" (The Written Rock) located in El Barrio Coabey in the central mountain municipality of Jayuya, Borikén.
